Meet Karmen Blackstock, a seasoned healthcare professional and Certified Professional Coder currently serving as the Administrator at SWAT Surgical Associates, LLP. With a wealth of experience spanning over 21 years in the medical industry, Karmen has dedicated her career to the field of General Surgery, Bariatric Surgery, and trauma surgery, including previous work with a hand surgeon.
Karmen embarked on her journey in healthcare in July 2002 at SWAT Surgical Associates, LLP, where she gained comprehensive experience in various roles, from reception to A/R follow-up. Her dedication and expertise led her to achieve certification as a professional coder in 2012, a milestone that marked her commitment to excellence in medical coding for the group.
Over the years, Karmen’s role has evolved, showcasing her versatility and deep understanding of the healthcare industry. Karmen has consistently demonstrated her leadership and managerial skills from certified coder to practice manager and now as the practice administrator.
Outside of her professional life, Karmen is actively involved in the community through Lone Star Coders, a testament to her commitment to giving back and staying engaged in professional development. Her interests beyond the office reflect a love for nature, as she enjoys gardening, working in the yard, and spending quality time with her family.
